Ensuring Mentalities for Students: Jack’s Advocacy Project

Across Alabama, student advocates from the A+ Student VOICES Team (SVT) are stepping up to address some of the most pressing issues in education. Among them is Jack Pinckard, a dedicated advocate from Wetumpka High School, who developed a student-centered initiative focused on addressing burnout, motivation, and career uncertainty among students.

Recognizing that many students feel overwhelmed by academic pressure and uncertain about their future, Jack created a project designed to shift conversations beyond grades and test scores. His initiative encourages students to explore career pathways, discuss personal goals, and better understand how their education connects to real-world opportunities and long-term success.

Working alongside counselors, administrators, and fellow student leaders, Jack developed a program centered on guided discussion circles, career exploration workshops, and burnout awareness sessions. These activities are designed to help students feel more supported, engaged, and confident as they navigate both their academic journeys and future aspirations. By creating opportunities for open dialogue, the initiative encourages students to reflect on their goals while building stronger connections with their peers and school community.

A key component of Jack’s project is its emphasis on peer leadership and honest conversations surrounding stress, expectations, and life after high school.
